LAKE POWELL -- A deer found itself in a precarious situation over the weekend in Lake Powell.

The deer fell into the lake near Moqui Canyon and was spotted by boaters swimming back and forth between steep canyon walls.

By the time wildlife officials arrived the deer was back on a ledge, but trapped.

It took some time, but officials eventually scared the deer back into the water, lassoed him and pulled him into the boat.

Then they hauled him to a safe location on the other side of the lake and released him.
