SALT LAKE CITY -- A Utah man was sentenced to 16 years to life in prison for stabbing his wife to death in October of 2009.
Danny Olivera, 34, pleaded guilty last December to killing his estranged wife Lisa M. Olivera at a Salt Lake City apartment.
Additional counts of domestic violence and assault were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.
At his sentencing Monday, Olivera apologized to his wife's family and warned others about the dangers of alcohol abuse.
