SALT LAKE CITY -- The state of Utah is seeing a drop in day care providers -- as many as 150 in the last year -- after a change in laws.
The Salt Lake metro area is doing pretty well as far as day care providers go, but many providers shut their doors after Utah lawmakers passed legislation requiring providers prove legal U.S. status.
"There was an incredible drop in home providers because they could not produce their original birth certificate, etc," said Lisa Palmer with ABC Great Beginnings.
Palmer also says she saw drops in day care providers in rural areas and places like Park City and Clearfield.
