LEHI -- Driving on Lehi's Main Street is actually a pleasant experience now. There are no more continuous traffic jams, thanks to the opening of Pioneer Crossing.

But what about all the small businesses that line the old downtown? The Daily Herald found that so far, businesses say the number of customers has been about the same as before the new road opened.

Some business owners worried that moving the traffic flow would hurt Main Street shops. But they say so far, that's not the case.

Dave Haws, owner of the floral and gift shop Haws & Co., tells the paper business has neither spiked nor decreased. He thinks it may take more time to see any impact.

Skin Deep Tanning owner Celena Strickland said she was nervous about the change but so far it hasn't hurt business.

Some business owners are happy that it's easier to get in and out of parking lots onto Main Street.

Pioneer Crossing is a 6-mile stretch of road that provides a direct route to and from Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain and American Fork. It opened Aug. 23.
