(KSL News) -- Utah's prison population has hit an all time high.
This week the number of inmates reached 6,327; that's 27 inmates above capacity.
A Utah department of corrections spokesman says the number of people being arrested is outpacing the number of inmates released.
To accommodate the growth the department is adding bunk beds to some dorm housing at the Draper and Gunnison prisons.
