Covering a crime scene is often a bit surreal. Covering the serving of a search warrent at a local doctor's office was no exception.

Investigators tell us there were so many people in the lobby of Dr. Warren Stack's office when they went in, some were sitting on the floor. They apparently streamed out pretty quickly once authorities moved in.

Inside, detectives spent more than an hour interviewing the Doctor. Outside, where we waited, numerous cars came and left in short order. At least one detective conducted surveilance outside for a time.

A Sheriff's Lt. says the raid culminates a year-long investigation. It apparently began when similarities appeared in a number of DUI and drug cases. That's when police say they learned the doctor was being investigated by others, including the DEA, the FBI and the Division of Professional Licensing.

During a news interview, a Sheriff's Lt. stated he was amazed that the prescriptions didn't raise any concern with the pharmacies where they were being filled, even though, he says they sometimes invoved more than 100 pills.

And there's another question. If the claims by investigators are true - though he is innocent until proven guilty - why would any Doctor, presumably with a good income and an established practice, decide to do something like this? This isn't the first such case.

The suspect didn't answer any questions as he was led to a police car. The only thing he said, was for someone to please put the cover up on his car - a 1980s red Camaro convertable with faded paint.
