WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) -- A 20-year-old West Valley man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old girl who he was supposedly having a relationship with.
The incident happened on Saturday.
West Valley police Captain Tom McLachlan says the man had come home to find another male in the house with the girl.
McLachlan says the enraged 20-year-old then allegedly choked the teenage girl with an extension cord and hit her with a pool cue and a shovel. He says when the girl tried to escape by running outside, the man allegedly got into his car and hit her with his vehicle.
McLachlan says the girl did eventually escape, and was taken to the hospital. Officials say she suffered extensive cuts and bruises.
Later that day, the man was booked into jail for investigation of multiple counts of aggravated assault and rape of a child, because of the girl's age.
