KAYSVILLE -- Students in Davis County will start class on Monday in a brand new elementary school that's out of this world.
Endeavour Elementary, located at 1870 S. 25 West in Kaysville, was named after the space shuttle. It is unique in that the school has a galactic theme inside and out.
There is not a single space that doesn't enhance science and have fun facts for the kids to learn.
–Principal Beth Johnston
Endeavour emphasizes science and technology, and many students can hardly wait to start. Ask first-grader Caden Reynold, and he'll tell you his favorite thing about his new school.
"The library," Caden says, "because there is all the planets in it."
From Earth to Saturn's rings, a model of each planet in our solar system hangs from the ceiling in the library.
The theme is everywhere throughout this cosmic school. In the halls and on the walls are pictures from the Hubble Space Telescope and tidbits of information about galaxies, constellations and space exploration.
In the school's multipurpose room, the Eagle Nebula is glazed onto the window.
"Even as parents, they are going to be better off and more knowledgeable just by being in the halls with their kids," says parent Jennifer Reynolds.

"There is not a single space that doesn't enhance science and have fun facts for the kids to learn," says Principal Beth Johnston.
The school will teach all the basics but push science and technology.
Third- through sixth-grade students will even get their very own mini laptop -- Endeavour is one of only two schools in the Davis School District to do so.
"Instead of textbooks, they will actually go online; and their textbooks are online," Johnston says.
Johnston says the space-themed school -- kept under wraps until back-to-school night Thursday night -- creates a fun learning environment for students.
"They are pressing their noses against the windows every day. They can't wait to get inside. They are excited about science," Johnston says.
Students at Endeavour will be known known as "the explorers."
