Randall Jeppesen, KSL Newsradio Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo says it needs to expand if it wants to keep up with all the growth. But that means it needs more land where homes now sit.
The hospital has been buying up homes on the southern edge of its campus, and that has raised some concerns among homeowners. Gene Parrish told KSL Newsradio, "I think there's been some confusion at to exactly what's happening."
Gene and Judy Parrish live right in the targeted expansion zone. Judy Parrish says, "I see it as something that's going to happen, so I have to look for somewhere else. Just move on in life."
But some homeowners say they're not leaving. The hospital says it will not ask the city to condemn the property, and they won't force anyone to sell, but they will be tearing down some homes they already purchased.
