Sandra Yi ReportingA construction worker was seriously hurt today when a trench caved in and trapped him.

The man was laying drainage pipe in a trench that is about 10 feet deep, in Herriman. The sidewall caved in and pinned the victim from the waist down.
Co-workers tried to dig him out when help arrived. It took emergency crews two hours to rescue the man. Teams worked quickly and carefully to get the man out without causing more injuries or cave-ins.

We know that he's a 46-year old man, in serious condition with possible leg injuries.
