SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Two Utah men have been hospitalized after jumping from a disabled boat and spending several hours floating in Bear Lake.
In a news release, the Rich County sheriff's office says Idaho State Parks officials reported the men missing after towing an abandoned boat to shore around 8 p.m. Saturday.
Officials believe the men had abandoned the boat at about 5 p.m.
Rescue teams located 25-year-old Mitch Dean of Harrisville in the water at 10:25 p.m. He was treated at the Bear Lake Marina and transported to Ogden Regional Medical Center by helicopter.
Jess Jensen, 26, of Smithfield, was found about 40 minutes later, aiding his own rescue by blowing a whistle on his life jacket. He was taken to Logan Regional Hospital by ambulance.
Both men were treated for hypothermia and exhaustion. Jensen was released from the hospital Saturday, while Dean is expected to be released Sunday.
