(KSL News) -- Police have now identified a West Valley man who died trying to save his dog this weekend.
21-year-old Justin Cunningham was hiking with three friends near Horse Tails Falls in Utah County Saturday afternoon when the dog fell in the water.
The man jumped in the water to save his dog. After being carried downstream, the man went over a waterfall about 100 feet.
The dog survived.
