(KSL News) A former General Authority with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is leaving Salt Lake City to return home.

Dozens of members turned out for a party to send off Elder John H. Groberg.

Elder Groberg served several church missions in Tonga and now he's returning to his hometown of Idaho Falls to be president of the temple there. His father held the same responsiblity 30 years ago.

Elder John H. Groberg: "It's a wonderful opportunity for Jane and I to go back and walk in their footsteps, so to speak. We're very happy."

Elder Groberg served as a General Authority for 30 years.

You might remember that the story of Elder Groberg's origins in Idaho Falls and his first mission to Tonga were told in the movie "The Other Side of Heaven". The Grobergs leave for Idaho in about two weeks.
