SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake City police say whoever sent a piece of scrap metal in with their recycling maybe should have included a note on this load.
It contained an artillery shell, which put a bit of a scare into the recycling plant workers when it turned up Thursday.
Police sent the bomb squad, which determined it had been hollowed out and wasn't dangerous.
Salt Lake City police spokeswoman Sgt. Robin Snyder says it would have been nice to know the shell was empty before the bomb squad got there.
