Eric McIntyre was a young boy when his father died of cancer at the age of 36. The tragic experience influenced much of his life, including his interest in discovering ways to help prevent cancer and other diseases. It lead him on the path to becoming a different type of chiropractor.
While in chiropractic school, Eric learned about a unique adjustment technique designed to reconnect the brain with the rest of the body that allows the body to begin a great course of healing. He was intrigued by the technique and after graduating he added a year-long course to focus on the specialty. Realizing that not many doctors in his home state of Utah knew about or practiced the technique, Eric formed a partnership with one of his classmates, John Cheney. The two opened the Specific Chiropractic Center in Draper in July 2009.
The Specific Chiropractic Center specializes in improving brain-body communication. The clinic utilizes exact procedures and the most up-to-date technology to objectively monitor and remove irritations to the central nervous system. Eric says the company uses a machine that measures brain/body communication both before and after an adjustment to ensure the brain is communicating with the body. If the scan shows the adjustment didn't take, then Eric does it again to ensure its effectiveness.
After every adjustment, patients are invited to rest for about 20 minutes to help set their adjustment. Eric says patients associate the office with a calm and peaceful atmosphere where they can relax from a busy world. The Specific Chiropractic Center has been so well received since its opening that Eric and John are in the process of hiring an office staff and increasing the amount of equipment they have to better serve their patients.
Both Eric and John are also concerned about worldwide health, so once a year they do a chiropractic outreach program for countries outside the United States. This year they went to El Salvador and in only a week their team had almost 9,000 visits.
