SALT LAKE CITY -- A pedestrian suffered minor injuries when he ran into a TRAX train in Salt Lake City Sunday morning.

UTA spokesman Gerry Carpenter says the train was approaching the 900 South station near 200 West around 8:15 a.m. when a middle-aged man darted out and slammed right into it. The man hit the side of the train near the front.

Ironically, the incident happened right across the street from a Gold Cross Ambulance station. Paramedics were able to transport the man to the hospital almost immediately. He suffered just minor injuries and should be OK.

Carpenter says it's unknown why the man ran into the train. Salt Lake police have taken over the investigation.
