Filderstadt, Germany (dpa) - Lindsay Davenport of the United States won her 50th career title on Sunday when she defeated French player Amelie Mauresmo, 6-2, 6-4, in the final of the 540,000-euros Porsche Grand Prix.

The former world number 1 Davenport won the last four games from 4-2 down in the second set to claim the Filderstadt event for the third time in 66 minutes.

Like in 2001 and 2004, Davenport chose a sports car from the tournament sponsors instead of the 80,000-euros winners cheque.

"My serve helped me and got me out of trouble in critical moments," said the former world number 1 Davenport.

Mauresmo lasted the entire match after having to quit last year's final between the two injured after the first set, but she found herself on the losing end again.

"Lindsay was very strong and the better player today," said Mauresmo.

World number 2 Davenport is the ninth player in women's tennis to win 50 tournaments, with compatriot Martina Navratilova leading the way with 167 trophies.

Davenport won her first title back in May 1993 at the European Open in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Sunday's match marked the last in Filderstadt as the tournament leaves the cosy venue after 29 years for a bigger arena in nearby Stuttgart from 2006 on.
