SALT LAKE CITY -- The newest gorilla of Hogle Zoo met the public Thursday.
Eighteen-year-old Husani, from Florida, had his first day outside. He was sent to Utah to be a companion for another Hogle resident, Tino.
Over 50 percent of gorilla births are males, so zoos need to group the animals to help sustain the overall population.
Keepers waited a month after Husani arrived before letting him roam. They wanted him to build a relationship of trust before they let him into the big yard.
