MIDVALE, Utah (AP) -- A new health clinic in the Salt Lake City suburb of Midvale is open for certain patients.
The Hope Clinic is for uninsured adults who don't have the money to pay for preventative health care. It opened this week.
In order to qualify, patients need to meet the guidelines: 150 percent of the federal poverty level, or $33,075 or less for a household of four.
One of the founders is a former emergency room doctor who wanted to help patients who were turned away from hospitals.
He says the clinic cost $150,000 for construction and will take $100,000 annually to run. The money all comes from donations, and doctors volunteer their time to treat the patients.
