SALT LAKE CITY -- After 65 years, a World War II veteran finally received his very own pair of Marine dress slacks.
Marines presented 87-year-old Pfc. Ned Williams with a tailored pair of slacks at the Brighton Gardens Assisted-Living Center in downtown Salt Lake City.
Williams was recruited by the Marines in 1945 just before the bombing on Hiroshima.
He says he has always wanted to be buried in his Marine dress whites. He purchased the dress jacket after the war, but couldn't afford the rest of the uniform.
The United States Marine Corps presented Williams with the dress white trousers in recognition of his dedication and service during World War II.
Williams says owning the entire Marine uniform means everything to him.
