Press releaseSALT LAKE CITY--The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is announcing major road construction work for this weekend with traffic switches and lane closures on Interstate 15 and lane restrictions on eastbound Interstate 80 in Parleys Canyon.

I-15, South LaytonThe outside southbound lanes will be moved into the newly paved inside lanes beginning Friday, July 16 at 7 p.m. In order to make the lane movements, southbound I-15 lanes will be restricted or closed intermittently throughout this coming weekend. The following closures will occur:

  • Friday, July 16: I-15 southbound will be reduced to two lanes of traffic beginning at 7 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane at 11 p.m. through Saturday (July 17) at 7 a.m.

Motorists can expect delays up to 20 minutes. A possible alternate to avoid the lane closures is I-84 east at exit 340 to southbound U.S. Highway 89 (exit 87) in Uintah and then rejoin I-15 or use Legacy Parkway in the Farmington area.

Traffic will be diverted to State Street and back on I-15 at 7200 South. Transponders for Express Lanes go on sale July 20 at www.expresslanes.utah.gov. The first 2,000 are free with a prepaid account.

I-15 CORE, Springville to Spanish ForkCrews are shifting lanes of traffic to the northbound side of I-15 between Springville and Spanish Fork. Lanes and shoulders will be narrowed and speeds reduced. The shift will take place over the next two weeks and traffic will remain in this configuration for the next year while crews widen the southbound side.

Eastbound I-80 Parleys Canyon Lane RestrictionBridge maintenance work on I-80 at Mountain Dell and Lambs Canyon will require an eastbound lane restriction beginning Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with traffic reduced to two lanes through Sunday late afternoon.
