SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Officials will restore a section of the Jordan River to a more natural condition.
Rocky Mountain Power gave its approval for the project along 550 yards of the river in West Jordan.
The utility owns that section of land on the river's west side.
Salt Lake County plans to replace concrete slabs that line the river with natural boulders -- and get rid of all the noxious weeds there.
County Mayor Peter Corroon and Rocky Mountain Power President Richard Walje plan to kick off the project Wednesday.
The mayor's spokesman, Jim Braden, says that one day, that section could get a biking path that lines other stretches of the Jordan River.
