SALT LAKE CITY -- An 11-month-old boy nearly drowned Saturday when he fell into a wastebasket full of water. Police say his big brother helped save his life.

Police say the baby and his 3-year-old brother were playing with water toys at their home near 3000 South and West Temple around 1 p.m.

Their uncle filled a wastebasket up with water so the boys could fill up their toys. But police say when the uncle walked away, the 11-month-old fell head first into the water.

The baby's brother ran inside to get his mother for help.

She pulled him from the water, performed CPR and was able to revive him.

The baby was taken to Primary Children's Medical Center and is expected to be OK.
