CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- The Utah Humanities Council has given its highest honor to a founder of the Utah Shakespearean Festival.
The council bestowed the Governor's Award in the Humanities on Fred C. Adams.
Gov. Gary Herbert presented Adams with a plaque at a May 27 ceremony in Cedar City, where the festival is held.
Adams says he wasn't certain he should be singled out for a labor of love.
Adams founded the festival 49 years ago with his late wife, Barbara Gaddie Adams.
