SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Food Bank received some much-needed help Tuesday as 60 volunteers from Key Bank worked to put together food boxes.
Workers at the food bank say during the summer months there is a huge decrease in the amount of donations and volunteers.
"We need to remind everyone that hunger knows no season," said Ginette Bott, chief marketing officer at the Utah Food Bank.
During the summer, shelves go bare and children on break from school no longer have lunches. But workers say many hands make light work; and the more volunteers, the more people fed.
"When you hear the statistics and the stories and the real need that's out there, and you don't realize how much there is," said Jill Taylor, district president of Key Bank Utah.
