ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- A foundation with plans to better promote a dinosaur track museum in St. George and increase fundraising efforts may take over administrative control from the city this week.
The DinosaurAH!Torium Foundation has proposed taking over management of the St. George Dinosaur Discovery at Johnson Farm. Tracks were found in the area in 2000 by local optometrist Sheldon Johnson.
Foundation board member Gary Watts says the change would let the museum operate more like a business. More fundraising efforts could pay for more advertising to attract visitors from outside the area.
The city would retain ownership of the site and be responsible for maintenance of the property. The foundation would take care of the building itself.
The City Council may vote on the issue Thursday.
