KEARNS -- A Kearns woman was in her yard Monday afternoon when she heard her smoke detectors go off. She ran inside to find her living room on fire.

She tried to put the fire out but failed. Then she grabbed her pets and got out.

Firefighters arrived to find the entire home near 5000 West and 4700 South in flames, and the neighboring house on fire too. They put both fires out in 20 minutes.

Officials say the woman's home is a total loss. The Red Cross is helping out both families.
