(KSL News) -- A task force is studying mercury pollution in Utah's waterways. It wants to assess the risk of contamination to people and wildlife.
The scrutiny follows U.S. Geological Survey tests showing the Great Salt Lake has the highest mercury readings of any US body of water.
Representatives of state agencies, sportsmen and environmental groups went to work yesterday on a 15-member task force.
The panel will try to figure out how the Utah's lakes, rivers and streams got so polluted.
