PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Several Utah cities may soon be asked to support a multimillion dollar bond to save a high-speed fiber-optic network.
The network, known as UTOPIA, is part of an 11-city consortium along the Wasatch Front.
UTOPIA board chair Kane Loader says the system has lacked funding. He says the group expects to announce a new bond proposal in the next week or so to build out large portions of the network.
Lindon city council member and UTOPIA board member Bruce Carpenter says cities will likely be asked for support a $62 million bond.
