2 arrested for Taylorsville carjacking

TAYLORSVILLE -- Two men are in jail for robbing a student in Taylorsville at gunpoint and stealing his car.

Taylorsville police say two men approached the student as he was leaving the University of Phoenix at 4393 S. River Boat Drive (775 West) just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The men told him to get on the ground, and then they stole his wallet, keys and cell phone. The thieves jumped into the student's car and fled.

Within an hour, police found the stolen vehicle parked near 5500 West and 9000 South with no one inside. They searched the area, found the suspects walking nearby and arrested them.

Investigators also found the weapon, which turned out to be an Airsoft gun.
