SALT LAKE CITY -- One of Utah's prominent religious leaders celebrated a major milestone Sunday.
With Gov. Gary Herbert and Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon in the audience, the patrons of the Calvary Baptist Church honored Pastor France A. Davis for 36 years of service.
Davis says he was called to serve in Utah and never intended to stay but is glad he did.
"It's been exciting and thrilling to watch the growth and development and this is the day that reaches the pinnacle," said Pastor Davis. "Absolute key is ministering -- making a difference in the lives of people and watching them as they benefit from the kind of interactions that minister has to do."
Davis' tenure at the church has made a difference. Before him, he says no other pastor in the church stayed longer than 15 years.
