ROY -- A plea deal appears to be in the works for the man accused of killing a Roy woman and her son, the Standard-Examiner reports.
During a court appearance Monday, prosecutors and lawyers for Jeremy Valdes, 33, said they are close to reaching an agreement.
Prosecutors would not divulge exactly what the talks involve, only saying that they are taking the death penalty "off the table."
Valdes is accused of killing Pamela Knight Jeffries, 56, and her son Matthew Roddy, 30, in their home last November after they accused him of stealing prescription drugs.
