OREM -- Josh Burkman and Jake Paul settled their differences in the cage Friday night when Showdown Fights made its debut at the McKay Events Center. And the battle lived up to the hype.

Both fighters put on a show for three, five-minute rounds, but it was Burkman who came out on top over his former friend and rival with a unanimous decision.

There was plenty of trash talk between both fighters before the fight began.

"Usually when I fight it's all business, but Josh made this one personal a little over a year ago when he stabbed me in the back," Paul said. "What better way to settle it than some good old-fashioned fistacuffs?"

"As soon as I started hearing Jake Paul running his mouth, it made me train a little bit harder," Burkman said. "The bottom line at the end of the day, I'm a better fighter and I'm tougher than Jake Paul and that's what people are gonna see on April 9."

Burkman did prove to be the better fighter Friday night but Paul gave him all he wanted. The two also seem to have settled their differences as the fight ended with both fighters in a friendly hug.

Brandon "The Murderer" Melendez turned in an impressive performance in the co-main event finishing JT Taylor with strikes in the second round.
