PARK CITY, Utah (AP) -- A Canadian company that outbid Vail Inc. for a Park City ski area three years ago has purchased a 170-room condominium hotel at the base of The Canyons Resort.
Toronto-based real estate development and investment company Talisker Corp. bought the Waldorf Astoria Hotel from a trio of Utah developers.
Terms of the sale of The Canyon's signature lodge weren't released. Many of the hotel's rooms are individually owned; Talisker bought unsold rooms, common assets, a restaurant, spa and rights to develop a golf course.
One of the Waldorf's original developers, Lee Hindin, said Talisker's purchase of the condo-hotel reaffirms its commitment to The Canyons Resort. Hindin said he built the condo-hotel with partners Reza Fakhrieh and Shelly Kamins of DuVal Development.
