(KSL News) The state Legislature will take on a pair of bills Tuesday designed to expand the rights of homosexual couples in the state.
House Bill 288 would allow unmarried couples, including gays and lesbians, to adopt foster children. House Bill 267, born out of the common ground initiative, would make it illegal to fire or evict someone for being gay or transgender.
Opponents of the bills have said they will lead to the eventual legalization of gay marriage in the state.
Supporters say they will simply improve the quality of life for all Utahns.
