SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Lawmakers are looking at increases in fees to help make up a revenue shortfall.
About $9 million in fee increases are proposed, ranging from a $1 fee increase to play 9 holes of golf on a state course to upping the fee to rent out the Capitol rotunda from $2,000 to $3,000.
The cost of birth and death certificates could go up by $3 each and Gov. Jon Huntsman has suggested raising vehicle registration fees by $20 a year.
Also, state court administrators hope a $12.5 million increase in some court and conviction fees could help keep the courts open 5 days a week.
Agriculture Department fees also may go up so the state can continue meat and organic inspections, rather than handing those over to the federal government.
