OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- A declining caseload means Weber County Justice Court cases will move to Roy starting next month.
An attorney with the Weber County Sheriff's Office says the court is being closed. Reed Richards says the formation of the Ogden Justice Court played a big role in reducing the number of cases seen by Weber County Justice Court.
The court had nearly 17,000 cases in 2004 and just 7,200 in 2008.
Revenue also has dropped in the past five years, from nearly $1.2 million to about $470,000.
Hooper, West Haven, Huntsville and Marriott-Slaterville contract with the county for justice court services.
Marriott-Slaterville will now contract with Washington Terrace. The other three will change to Roy.
