OGDEN -- A man recently convicted of assault and resisting arrest in connection with a fatal car crash last year now is facing additional charges of burglary.

According to the Standard-Examiner, police say Andrew Gomez was spotted leaving an Ogden home Jan. 14. Police found him hiding in nearby bushes with a pillowcase of stolen items and took him into custody.

At the time of his arrest, Gomez was awaiting trial on the previous charges stemming from a crash April 22 that happened when he and another man, Mark Mora, were being chased by officers after an alleged burglary.

Gomez was a passenger in Mora's car when it broadsided another at 28th Street and Washington Boulevard, killing two 19-year-olds, Derek Jasper and Blake Strebel.

Gomez was convicted on those charges last week.
