ROY -- A former Roy Junior High School teacher who pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a student at the school will spend up to 15 years behind bars.
A judge sentenced 46-year-old Kenneth Taylor to zero to five years on each of three counts of unlawful sexual conduct over a relationship that started when the girl was 14. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dropped three additional charges.
Taylor's lawyer told the Deseret News his client will be considered a felon and be on a sex offender registry for at least 13 years.
The father of the girl, now 18, says his daughter has moved out and will not speak to her parents over the ordeal.
