SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Department of Transportation officials have announced several major road closures that will take effect over the weekend.

Eastbound I-80 will close in Parley’s Canyon from 8 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, according to an emailed statement from UDOT. Road crews will be placing beams for a new wildlife bridge that will span over the highway.

I-84 through Weber Canyon and U.S. Highway 40/189 through Provo Canyon are suggested as alternatives.

The ramp from I-15 southbound to I-215 in North Salt Lake will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, UDOT said. After the ramp reopens on Monday, only one lane will be open, and that restriction will be in effect until Friday, Aug. 10, according to UDOT.

I-80 is suggested as an alternate route, especially for people driving to Salt Lake City International Airport.

The closure is part of a repaving project on I-215, and will include barrier construction and repaving, UDOT said. Also part of the project is a new diverging diamond interchange at I-215 and Redwood Road.

The 10600 South bridge over I-15 in Sandy also will be closed over the weekend.

The closure starts at 9 p.m. Friday, and the road will be reopened before the Monday morning commute, according to UDOT. All ramps on and off of I-15 at the intersection will still be open, but drivers will not be able to cross the freeway.

Crews will be waterproofing the bridge so that the pavement lasts longer, UDOT said. The 9000 South and 11400 South exits are suggested as alternate routes.

Also this weekend, northbound I-15 lanes will split between 2100 North and state Route 92 in Lehi, UDOT officials said. The split will take effect starting Saturday evening and will continue for several months.

Drivers who want to exit at state Route 92 will need to merge into one of the two right lanes before 2100 South. The split will be in place to allow crews to continue working on a new bridge at Triumph Boulevard, according to UDOT.
