KAMAS, Summit County — A motorcyclist was seriously injured after falling 20 feet down an embankment and hitting a tree Friday, officials report.
About 3:30 p.m. Friday, a woman in her early 60s was driving through the Uintas on state Route 150 about one mile east of Mirror Lake, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Lawrence Hopper.
The woman took a right turn on a curve and, for an unknown reason, lost control of the motorcycle and went off the road, Hopper said. The woman fell about 20 feet down an embankment and hit a small tree and boulder, the sergeant said.
She was flown by AirMed to University Hospital with serious injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. The woman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Hopper confirmed.
As of Saturday afternoon, the woman was still recovering in the hospital.
