GREEN RIVER, Wyo. — The body of a Utah man was recovered and two other men were rescued after a boating accident in Flaming Gorge Reservoir, Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office detective Dick Blust said Sunday.

Adverse weather was a factor in the accident that involved three men fishing in a small boat on the west side of Flaming Gorge, south of Green River and the Buckboard Marina, Blust said.

He said a call about what is being described as a fatal boating mishap came into authorities "very, very early" Sunday morning. The two survivors are "safe and well," Blust said, and are also believed to be from Utah.

The pair were rescued and the body of the man who is believed to have drowned was recovered by sheriff's deputies and Wyoming Game & Fish personnel, the detective said.

The identity of the victim was being withheld pending notification of his family, Blust said, and additional information about the accident is expected to be released by the sheriff's office on Monday.

Friends and a co-worker identified the man as Lance Heninger, 48, of North Ogden. Heninger, the father of two young boys, had worked at Anglers Den in Roy for 14 years and in the fishing industry for some three decades.

"The weather took a turn for the worse and some waves came over the boat and the boat capsized," his best friend, Brandt Hogge, told KSL-TV. "They saved two lives, but we did lose one."

Hogge said his friend "touched a lot of people with his love and passion about fishing and he passed away doing what he loved to do."
