SALT LAKE CITY — Here are 10 stories you may have missed this weekend. As always, click on the headline to read the full story.

1. How to reduce time in Salt Lake Airport security lines

Officials expect Salt Lake International Airport to see 25,000 fliers day this summer. That’s a 6 percent bump over last summer — and for travelers, that means even longer security lines.

2. Teen killed in collision with FrontRunner train

A teenager is dead after he was hit by a FrontRunner train Saturday afternoon, Utah Transit Authority officials say. The collision happened at about 4 p.m. in Roy. UTA spokesman Carl Arky said investigators originally thought the teen was a female but later determined him to be a 16-year-old boy.

The collision "does not appear to be an accident," Arky said.

3. Man arrested for allegedly throwing sulphuric acid on child

A Smithfield man accused of throwing sulphuric acid on a child and then jumping out of a police car in a failed escape attempt has been booked into jail.

According to a Cache County Jail booking affidavit, Jason Keith Summers, 32, walked onto a neighbor's property and toward an infant "before throwing a substance on the child."

"Jason was asked numerous times what substance he had thrown on the child. Each time he stated it was dirt and had an appearance similar to ash. Later it was discovered to be sulfuric acid," the jail report states.

4. Moab homeowners affected by fire waiting for 'all clear' to begin debris removal

Rick Carrigan wanted to spend his Saturday cleaning up the mess of debris left behind on his Moab property after a wildfire destroyed his home. Homeowners affected by the wildfire in Moab earlier this week would have spent their Saturday cleaning up what's left of their homes — but they can't.

"This pile of garbage right here is not moving because of the pace of government bureaucracy," he said while pointing to what’s left of his home.

Carrigan is one of several homeowners whose homes were burned during a fast-moving wildfire earlier in the week.

5. Utah native starring in 'Jersey Boys' at Eccles Theater

"Jersey Boys" will play five shows through Sunday at the Eccles Theater. However, for the leading man, the Salt Lake City tour stop has special meaning.

For Aaron de Jesus, ‘working his way’ back to Utah and the Eccles Theater has been a long road.

“My mom had us singing ever since we could talk,” said de Jesus. “When I got into college, I got more involved seriously and I kind of caught the bug.”

He grew up in Provo, graduated from BYU. His theater work began at Sundance, and Tuacahn. He then went on to work in Las Vegas and finally in New York City, where lives.

1. Utah Royals hand North Carolina 1st loss of the season

Brittany Ratcliffe scored a goal in the final minute of stoppage time, and the expansion Utah Royals handed league-leading North Carolina Courage their first loss of the season, 1-0 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.

2. ‘Viva México!’: World Cup watch party brings community together at Gateway

On Sunday morning, soccer fans from across northern Utah gathered at The Gateway to watch one of the most anticipated matches in the World Cup group stage, as Mexico faced defending champion Germany in Moscow.

Over 250 fans, mostly supporting Mexico, sat around the plaza to support “El Tri.”

3. 15-year-old Summerhays becomes youngest winner in Utah State Amateur history

Preston Summerhays is going to have quite the story to tell when he gets back to high school in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The 15-year-old son of pro golfer Boyd Summerhays became the youngest-ever Utah State Amateur champion Saturday with a 3 and 2 win over Utah senior-to-be Kyler Dunkle in the 36-hole final at Oakridge Country Club in Farmington.

4. Former NFL fullback teams up with coach Ron McBride to fight opioid epidemic in Utah

Stanley Havili had a bright future in front of him.

The former Cottonwood High standout signed a four-year rookie contract in 2011, and spent time floating between the Eagles' active roster and practice squad before being released for the final time Jan. 2, 2012.

So how did he get to be unemployed, without a family, and living in a Park City hotel room with nothing but prescription painkillers to keep him company?

5. New Orleans' fast start to 2nd half dooms Utah Warriors to loss

Don Pati scored two tries for Utah, but the NOLA Gold opened the second half with three-straight tries to keep their Major League Rugby playoff hopes alive with a 46-43 win over the Warriors in front of 3,561 fans at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman.
