PARK CITY — What should have been a peaceful Memorial Day at the Park City Golf Club for a Utah couple was interrupted by a moose — twice. A nearby resident captured video of them jumping on the cart and driving away, with the moose close behind.
Over the past couple of weeks, the adolescent moose has been hanging around the golf club grounds. Mark Redican heard about it shortly after he started golfing there with his wife on Monday.
“The drink cart lady is coming across and says you know, ‘Hey, just want to let you know there’s a moose that beds down in this area,'” Redican recalled.
He didn’t think much of it at first. Redican said a few holes into the course, he heard his wife yelling as he prepared to swing.
“I turn around and this moose is just lumbering at us,” Redican said. “We just jump in the cart and take off. This thing is catching us and it’s huge. It’s bigger than the golf cart!”
Redican said the moose soon turned away and walked over to a nearby pond. Somewhat shaken, he and his wife started to play again.
“I’m in the fairway, getting ready to hit second shot, and all of a sudden turn around and the moose is just coming at us again,” Redican explained. “[We] jump back in the cart and it chases us down another fairway and then just kind of peels off again.”

A starter and manager at the course, Danny Nomura, said he was just ahead of Redican.
“I thought he was pushing us,” Nomura said. “I asked him what was wrong, and he says that a moose is chasing him.”
Redican said he wasn’t sure that he was ever in danger.
“I don’t think he was probably super aggressive,” Redican said. “I think he was like a yearling. I don’t know if he just wanted to play or what, but we weren’t going to hang out and find out, because that thing was gigantic.”
At the very least, he walked away with a unique golf story to tell. He wasn’t aware of the video, shot by a woman on a back porch until the next day. The video circulated quickly after it was posted by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources on their Facebook page.
“My wife saw the video on Facebook, and we’re like, ‘oh my gosh, that’s us!'” Redican said.
