KANOSH, Millard County — A 27-year-old woman died early Saturday morning after she was partially ejected from a car on I-15, Utah Highway Patrol officials said.

Hailey Buh, 27, of Layton, was declared dead at the scene of the crash at about 4:05 a.m. Saturday, UHP officials said via the agency’s website.

Buh was a passenger in a 2004 Toyota Highlander that was traveling north on I-15 near mile post 140, about 14 miles south of Kanosh. The car began slipping sideways and to the left while on a curve in the roadway.

The driver of the car overcorrected, and the car went off the right side of the road, according to UHP. After going off the road, the car hit a hillside and began rolling. Buh was partially ejected as the vehicle rolled, and her head hit some rocks on the hillside, according to UHP.

The car finally came to rest upside down against the hillside on the right side of the freeway.

The driver of the car, a 33-year-old man from Layton, was transported to Fillmore Hospital minor injuries, UHP officials said. It was not clear if he had been released as of Saturday afternoon.

Buh was wearing a seatbelt during the crash, but it was not properly fastened, according to UHP officials.

Icy road conditions were being investigated as a possible contributor to the crash, according to UHP.
