MAGNA — Police responded to a Wendy's in Magna at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday after hearing reports that shots had been fired, according to Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke.
There were no injuries and no victims in the shooting, which took place near 3500 S. 8000 West, Lohrke said. Just before 5 p.m., police said they had found a gold car and planned to question two juveniles in connection with the shooting.
Shortly before 8 p.m., Unified Police reported via Twitter that the two juveniles had been released and were no longer suspects in the shooting. Police said they were still searching for the shooter.
Lohrke said someone, who appeared to be the target of the shooting, had run out of the Wendy's and fled the scene.
There was some property damage to the restaurant, Lohrke said.
"We're very lucky this afternoon," he said. "It could have been a lot worse."
Two elementary schools in the area, Lake Ridge and Pleasant Green, briefly were put on "shelter in place” protocol due to the police activity, according to a tweet from Granite School District.
For those parents of affected students from schools in Magna today, look for a detailed email explaining the process and decision-making for these types of protocols. Thanks again for everyone’s support and patience as we work to keep kids safe.

Pleasant Green was taken off "shelter in place" protocol around 3:47 p.m., and Lake Ridge was taken off alert at about 4 p.m., the school district said.
Wendy's employees were being held for questioning, as well as several other witnesses, Lohrke said.
Police had been searching for a gold Mazda 6i with Utah license plate X983R, according to Lohrke.
