AMERICAN FORK CANYON — A man and a woman were hospitalized following an ATV crash Sunday afternoon, officials confirmed.
The crash occurred at about 4:45 p.m. near Silver Lake Flat in American Fork Canyon. Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jon Kantor told KSL it looks like the man and woman were attempting to climb a hill and ended up rolling the ATV.
The man and woman might have suffered back, head and leg injuries, Utah County Sheriff’s Spencer Cannon said. Two medical helicopters were called and transported the injured man and woman to the hospital.
“We just thought it’d be quickest, given the injuries, and not knowing the extent of other injuries,” Kantor said.
Kantor said the two individuals may have been riding an ATV designed for one rider.
“I understand it was an ATV designed for one individual, so I think probably that factored into the equation,” he said.
