IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — A Centerville couple died and a man was injured after they were ejected and then struck by the boat they were riding in near Blacktail Park at Ririe Reservoir Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Elaine Jenkins, 65, and her husband, Neal Jenkins, 68, died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to Bonneville County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bryan Lovell.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a boating crash at the reservoir, which is located roughly 25 miles northeast of Idaho Falls, at approximately 3:15 p.m. Monday.

Lovell said the Jenkins were riding in a boat operated by Mike Kingston, 63, of Idaho Falls, when all three were ejected while Kingston completed a turn on the water. The boat then struck all three as it turned in circles around them.

Elaine Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene. Both Kingston and Neal Jenkins were taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, where Neal Jenkins later died from his injuries.

Kingston remained hospitalized with “serious injuries” Tuesday, though Lovell did not know what condition the man was in at the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
