WEST VALLEY CITY — One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting early Sunday.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a home near 4274 W. 4695 South just after 2 a.m. Sunday, according to West Valley police. At the house, police found Jason Bull, 35, of West Valley City, deceased.

A 32-year-old man, who has not been identified, was also injured in the shooting. He is expected to recover, West Valley spokesman Sam Johnson said.

After interviewing witnesses, Marshall Herron, 36, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of murder, Johnson said.

According to a jail statement, the three men involved had gotten into a physical fight, and Herron left and went to his home to get a gun. Herron then came back and shot the men, the statement indicated.

After his arrest, Herron told police multiple times he had shot Bull but wouldn't provide additional details without an attorney, according to the jail statement.

Witnesses told police that drugs and alcohol were involved in the incident.
