WEST VALLEY CITY — A man is dead after a hit-and-run Wednesday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as 47-year-old Jeremy Hardman from West Valley City.
The crash occurred near the intersection of 3600 West and 4100 South after Hardman and a friend had an argument with another man, according to West Valley City police. The unidentified man then got into a car, made a U-turn and hit Hardman as he was at the crosswalk.
"Investigators believe it was intentional and are treating this case as a homicide," West Valley police said.
Officials are searching for the man driving a 2001-2005 four-door black Lexus sedan with a caved-in windshield from the crash. Police said the car has loud exhaust, a rear-end spoiler and temporary license plates. The car was last seen heading south on 4100 South after the hit-and-run.
The man is described as white or Hispanic in his late 20s or early 30s with a buzz-cut hairstyle.
The right lane of eastbound 4100 South at 3600 West was closed temporarily while police investigated, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
